Institute of Hotel Management, Jagdishpur, is a branch of National Institute of Hotel Managements which provide world class education in hotel management as well as groom the future leaders in hotel industry. The site for IHM, Jagdishpur, and Institutional Block is a relatively flat land with lots of wild vegetation. Building form is a simple result of preserving these trees on site and carefully mapping various spatial connections.
Besides the morphology, building facade is an intricate approach composite of diverse sizes of steel or brass plates which will be molded on site providing employment to the local artisans. However besides the aesthetics, the facade is an effective reflective feature to disperse the harsh sunlight and reduce the overall thermal gains.
Hostel Block on the other hand employs smart tactics to accommodate existing High Tension line bisecting the site, recognizing the constraint as an advantage the site was planned in two segments: one with staff quarters, other with student hostels. Design of hostels is modular with central courtyard creating sufficient buffer and recreational zones for the students. Construction of IHM, Jagdishpur is scheduled to finish by mid-2016.
